On Friday and Saturday last some Transition Years got ready to trek through the forest of our local Mote Park and on Sunday and Monday last it was the turn for fifth year’s to experience the outdoors. The girls took time out to complete the Bronze Award for the President’s Award, Gaisce. The girls had to spend 13 weeks learning a new skill, helping in the community, completing a physical activity and an extra 13 weeks on one of these topics. To be eligible for this award, the girls had to take part in a 25-30 km walk/ activity and have an overnight stay. Mote Park was the chosen venue for this adventure and the girls enjoyed the natural beauty of their surroundings, having craic with their friends while keeping their goal, the bronze award, firmly in mind. Thanks to the teachers, Miss. Keenan and Mrs. Hession who made this adventure possible!
