Congratulations to Aoife McLoughlin, 5th year who will compete in front of a crowd of 1000 plus at the No Name Club National Youth Awards in the Lyrath Hotel, Kilkenny. This black-tie event has been running on an annual basis for 34 years and brings teenagers and their adult leaders from clubs around the country together to celebrate the involvement of teenagers in communities across Ireland. Clubs from all over the country were invited to put forward representatives to take part in the National Youth Awards. The Host and Hostess of the Year are deemed to have made outstanding contributions to their clubs, their local communities, and are rewarded for the skills they bring to wider society. Aoife represents Kilbride and competes with seven other hosts and hostesses from across Ireland. At Saturday’s black-tie event, the finalists were interviewed in front of the 1,000 plus crowd by former Rose of Tralee, Maria Walsh. The finalists had previously been interviewed on a one-to-one basis by the event judges. The winner will receive education scholarships as prizes. Aoife has been a hostess with the Kilbride No Name Club for three years. She loves music especially singing, and was the lead in our most recent musical “Beauty and the Beast” in her role as Belle and has enjoyed great successes in Scór competitions winning All-Ireland titles for solo singing. We wish Aoife the very best of luck in this competition.
